Project Description
The Office Complex “OBH” is a landmark project situated at Rue du Fort Niedergrünewald in the thriving area of Kirchberg, Luxembourg. This multifaceted development seamlessly blends office and coworking spaces (spanning 10,000 m²) with a modern police station, extending the existing hotel infrastructure. Designed and realized between 2017 and 2018, with construction executed from March 2018 to September 2020, the project redefines urban architectural paradigms by integrating multifunctional spaces that cater to a diverse range of needs within the community.
Design and Materials
The architectural design of “OBH” introduces an innovative façade treatment characterized by a semi-random folding of double-height glass boxes, which serve the dual purpose of aesthetic enhancement and concealing advanced solar protection systems. This clever design choice not only adds a dynamic visual element but also contributes to energy efficiency. Inside, the building boasts hyper-rational, modular spaces that offer flexibility to meet the evolving needs of its occupants. Sustainable materials and practices are at the forefront of the design, ensuring durability and minimal environmental impact.
Unique Features
Among the building’s notable features are the expansive landscaped plateaus, covering approximately 11,000 m², which provide both functional outdoor spaces and aesthetic appeal. The unique façade design effectively disrupts the conventional scale of office floor heights, creating an engaging architectural experience. Furthermore, the project emphasizes high standards of comfort and modularity, making it an exemplary model of contemporary urban development.
Conclusion
This project is a testament to M3 Architectes’ commitment to innovative, sustainable architecture. “OBH” not only enhances Kirchberg’s urban environment but also sets new standards for mixed-use developments, combining aesthetic appeal with high functionality and sustainability. It stands as a significant addition to Luxembourg’s architectural landscape, providing serene and adaptable working spaces that meet the community’s diverse needs.
