About Us
Welcome to M3 Architectes
At M3 Architectes, we believe that architecture is more than just designing buildings; it’s about creating spaces that inspire and endure. Based in Luxembourg, our firm has been dedicated to innovative and sustainable design for nearly 25 years. Our journey is one of passion, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.
Our Story: A Legacy of Creativity and Innovation
Founded in February 1997, M3 Architectes emerged from the dreams and determination of a group of passionate architects. Our story began with a small group of visionaries who gathered regularly to share ideas and ambitions, laying the groundwork for what would become M3 Architectes.
In the summer of 1996, just before the holidays, a close-knit group of architects would gather every Thursday at the Melusina terrace. This tradition, started by Roland Schumann and Paul Bretz, became a ritual of camaraderie and professional exchange. Among the regular attendees were ArletteSchneiders, Jos Dell, Alain Linster, and Jean Flammang, along with various other architects, clients, artists, and enthusiasts.
- 1996: The idea to form M3 Architectes was sparked by a desire for independence and the need to explore new horizons. The tragic loss of Roland Schumann and the subsequent efforts of Michel Petit to maintain a collaborative spirit played a crucial role in shaping our beginnings.
- Early Projects: Our early years were marked by significant projects such as the Place Guillaume, the CFL headquarters, and the transformation of the Pulvermühle Bridge. These projects not only established our reputation but also solidified our commitment to excellence and innovation.
As we grew, so did our ambitions. Our team expanded, and with it, our capacity to take on more complex and meaningful projects.
- 1999: Alain Linster joined us, bringing fresh perspectives and renewed energy.
- 2001: Michel Petit returned to independence, yet the bond formed during our early years continued to influence our collaborative spirit.
Despite the challenges, including the dissolution of our informal gatherings at Melusina, we remained steadfast in our mission. We engaged in volunteer work for the Order of Architects, the Foundation of Architecture, and the Council of Architects of Europe, nurturing the exchange of ideas and experiences within the architectural community.
Over the years, we have opened M3 Architectes to young associates, ensuring that our legacy of shared experiences and professional excellence continues. This inclusivity has enriched our practice and strengthened our commitment to innovative and sustainable design.
- 2001-NOW: During these years, we created, designed, dreamt, calculated, explained, re-designed, and re-explained. Our approach has always been useful, factual, imaginative, and respectful of the client’s intentions and the site’s needs. We have embraced the increasing demands for environmental and societal responsibility, recognizing that dreaming alone is not enough—our ultimate goal is to build.
Our Values: Guiding Principles
At the heart of M3 Architectes are values that define our approach and drive our success.
